NTA Releases NEET 2024 City and Centre-Wise Results Amid Allegations
Supreme Court Intervenes in NEET 2024 Amid Paper Leak Allegations
Allegations and Legal Actions
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has published the city and centre-wise results of the 2024 undergraduate National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET), following allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities, as reported by PTI. The Supreme Court had directed the agency to release this data while hearing petitions seeking a fresh examination due to alleged paper leaks, optical mark recognition (OMR) sheet manipulations, impersonation, and cheating.
Court’s Observations
The Supreme Court highlighted that it was evident that paper leaks occurred at least in Patna, Bihar, and Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The bench questioned whether the leaks were confined to these centers or if they were more widespread, which would determine the need for a re-test. The court acknowledged the challenge faced by the petitioners, stating, “Students have a handicap, because they would never have the kind of data necessary.”
