Prabhat Jha Death News: Senior BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Prabhat Jha passed away on Friday morning at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. He had been battling a prolonged illness. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences over the demise of the veteran leader.

Funeral to be Held in Ancestral Village

Prabhat Jha’s mortal remains will be taken to his ancestral village in Bihar for the final rites. His body will be flown to Sitamarhi by a special aircraft this evening.

Long Battle with Illness

The 67-year-old leader had been admitted to a hospital in Delhi for intensive treatment a month ago. Several senior BJP leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, visited him during this time.

From Journalist to BJP Leader

Prabhat Jha began his career as a journalist in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, before joining the BJP. In 2010, he became the President of the Madhya Pradesh BJP unit. Jha was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2008 and served until 2020. He also held the position of BJP’s National Vice President in 2015.

Prabhat Jha moved to Gwalior as a child with a relative and quickly became involved with the BJP and RSS. He pursued his education in Gwalior, earning degrees in Science and Political Science before studying law. In 1986, he married Ranjana Jha and started his journalism career with Swadesh newspaper.

Media Incharge and Beyond

In 1993, during a period of Congress dominance in Madhya Pradesh, Jha was appointed as the Media Incharge of the BJP’s media center in Bhopal. His efforts significantly boosted the party’s media presence, making the media center a hub for journalists. From 1993 to 2002, he served as Media Incharge and spokesperson for the BJP in Madhya Pradesh.

Delhi and National Roles

In 2003, at the behest of Uma Bharti, Prabhat Jha was moved to Delhi, where he continued to excel. He was made the National Secretary of BJP in 2007 and later served as the editor of Kamal Sandesh. In 2008, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, where he served on several important committees.

Madhya Pradesh BJP President

Returning to Madhya Pradesh after his Rajya Sabha term, Jha was appointed as the President of the Madhya Pradesh BJP on May 8, 2010, a role he held until December 2012. In 2015, he was appointed as BJP’s National Vice President, further cementing his legacy within the party.
